It was a fantastic start to my 2018, as I had the opportunity to attend the 2018 EurAsia Cup at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, Malaysia. Led by captains Thomas Bjorn and Arjun Atwal, I witnessed the best players in Asia team up to face some of the greatest Europeans including Henrik Stenson.
Team Asia never looked inferior, despite being up against top-ranked, world-class golfers. Thailand’s Poom Saksansin stood out as a star on the Asian team, triumphantly winning his singles match against world number 14, Paul Casey.
Of course, I was rooting for Asia, but sadly the end result wasn’t what I hoped it would be. Still, Asia was defiant and it was a great battle so I couldn’t be more proud of the Asian team.
After watching the performance of those young Asian golfers, I can’t stop thinking that one day more of our Indonesian players will also be able to compete with top-ranked players from around the world.
In this edition, we have recapped another thrilling recent event, the 2017 Indonesian Masters. Gladly, seven of our national players made the cut. This in itself demonstrates the improvement of our national players when competing in the international arena. You’ll find our full review of the tournament in this edition with details of the phenomenal triumph of Justin Rose.
Additionally, we have plenty of interesting features from on and off the golf course, including tips from the Leadbetter Golf Academy instructors to help make your own game better.
