Last week I was watching the Dell Technologies Matchplay, Dustin Johnson, world number one, was playing the matchplay with so much confident that he dominated the game when he was playing against Hideto Tanihara. After defeating Tanihara, he outlast Rahm and won the matchplay. Dustin Johnson has risen from the ground to become World No. 1.
Beginning with his win at the US Open last year, he was named PGA Tour Player of the Year last season and then burst into 2017 with a new-found confidence, culminating in his win at the Genesis Open. The victory moved him to the number one spot, making him the 20th player to hold the most sought-after title since the ranking system began in 1986. Jason Day won’t be too pleased to have lost his spot after 47 weeks at the top, but for Dustin, it’s a momentous achievement that’s been a long time coming.
