Presidents Cup Captain Ernie Els announced his four captain’s picks for the International Team on November 7. The 50-year-old South African will lead the youngest ever International Team in Presidents Cup history to Royal Melbourne Golf Club, Australia. His 12 players, with an average age of just 29 years old, will be facing the US Team Captain Tiger Woods who selected himself along with Tony Finau, Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland to compete in the team event.

The 13th Presidents Cup takes place on December 12-15 and should prove an interesting battle between the United States and the International Team who represent the rest of the world minus Europe. The International Team’s motivation to win continues to heighten as they haven’t claimed victory since 1998.

History suggests that Els faces a tough task ahead if his team is to win the 13th President Cup. However, competing at Royal Melbourne Golf Club provides some advantages to his side. Els was one of the International Team members that won at the venue in 1998; the only trophy ever claimed by the International side since the inaugural tournament in 1994.

Speaking about the possible benefits of returning to Royal Melbourne, Els shared a little of his game plan. “I’ve told them a bit about Royal Melbourne. I've talked to them about how I feel the golf course flows, how I feel the best way to attack the course.
