Pendahuluan / Prolog
Competitiveness of Special Economic Zone: Comparison between Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and China
The Indonesian government recently launched the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI) 2011–2025 for the even distribution of development in all regions. Being a strategic breakthrough, the MP3EI aims to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), speed up economy growth, and hopefully constitutes an answer to the development disparity that for a long time has become a trap hindering the realization of equitable distribution of development throughout the country.
At the beginning, this book provide a comprehensive report on SEZs comparison in Indonesia, China, Malaysia, and Thailand. While China has the most established SEZ program, Malaysia and Thailand also have highly-regarded SEZs and investment incentives. Then, the next chapters provide a topic about each country, include the key success factors (KSFs) of SEZs, the inovations, or their bussiness. The end of the book there is crystallized topic about the finding of this study and present policy recommendations for the Indonesian government.
The main objective of this book is to provide an in-depth understanding on how our neighboring countries develop and create value added to their Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
