Pendahuluan / Prolog

Introduction
Before attributing cultures to be different and aspiring to build good cultural communication between the differences, people must consider the bridge used, namely cross-cultural understanding. The word cross which signifies ‘reach across’ or ‘pass across each other’ refers to two or more different matters.

Thus, cross cultural understanding to a large extent is an effort to understand various different cultures. It is a crucial need for humans to be able to comprehend any kinds of differences to shape cultural communication. In addition, the rapid growth of globalization together with technological development force humans to compromise with all new habits that are everchanging and dynamically moving.

Therefore, in connection with cross cultural communication, Mackin (2006) proposes three questions:
 How can people handle these situations effectively?
 How do people avoid personalizing our differences into likes and dislikes?
 Is there a way to understand and respect our differences and use them to build something that is stronger and more flexible than before?

The answers to those questions are required to underline the importance of cross-cultural understanding in a good two ways cultural communication; with the goals to avoid hatred, prejudice, or dislikes because of highlighting the differences that triggers conflicts.
