In front of empty grandstands on the 18th at Torrey Pines on Monday morning, Jason Day celebrated his 11th PGA Tour victory after he sunk an 18-inch birdie putt on the sixth playoff hole to beat Alex Noren and win the Farmers Insurance Open. Day and Noren had resumed the playoff after darkness forced them to close play on Sunday following five playoff holes.

With the putt, Day ended the titledrought he’d been suffering since 2016 Players Championship. The 30-year-old triumphantly returned to the winner's circle with hopes of winning many more events, especially major championships.

"I think 11 [wins] is not enough. I think it's very small," said Day, as quoted by Golf Week. "And I'm not being disrespectful to anyone else, just, in my mind, that's, I look at 11 and I think that's like a very small number of wins. I want to be a multiple Major champion. It would be nice to get the Grand Slam, for sure. But anything above 20 is good.”

Day has previously won one Major, the PGA Championship, and reached No.1 in the world, but he's also battled injuries and faded in recent years. Hitting the ground running in 2018 by being crowned the Farmers Insurance Open champion raises the hope that Day will win a Major this year.

Day did not win a title last year, but the legendary former world No.1 Greg Norman thinks the 2015 PGA Championship winner can claim a second major this year.
