Miramar Golf & Country Club, a 36-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, opened in 1994. Located approximately 45 minutes drive from Taipei, the Miramar Golf & Country Club is known as one of the most prestigious golf resorts in Taiwan. The course has developed a worldwide reputation as a result of hosting international events such as the Fubon Senior Open of the European Tour, Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship, and Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.
The club is home to two 18-hole courses, the South-East and the North-West. When Miramar hosts a championship it’s the North and West nines which are used. These two courses feature twelve water hazards of varying sizes, accompanied by 110 American-style bunkers, and mature trees lining either side of the generous fairways.
One of the toughest holes is the 9th on the North course. With a distance of 410 yards, the hole features a stream that runs down the entire right side from tee to green, adding pressure on the drive as well as the approach into the green.
The 500-yard 9th on the West nine is also a tough one worth highlighting. The hole features a bunker that strategically splits the fairway at the 270-yard mark forcing the golfer to make a choice. The right side provides a better option for a more open approach to the green, and playing uphill, most will lay up short of the greenside bunker for a short pitch in.
