Pendahuluan / Prolog

Barriers or Hindrances in Public Speaking
Public speaking consists of two words; public and speaking. From these two words, public speaking can be interpreted as ‘planned and systematically speaking in public with a specific purpose’. Rahmat (1994) explains that public speaking is a communication that is done verbally about one or more topics in front of many people.

The goal is to invite, influence, educate, persuade, provide explanations, and provide information to the public in certain places. According to Mustamu, R.H. (2012: 210) that public speaking is an ability to express ideas in public and public speaking is a competency that combines four main elements of education: science, skills, art, and character. According to Nikita, A. (2011: 9), public speaking is a procedure a demonstration and a specialty of giving a discourse before a group of people.

Totally everybody from the age of 10 to 90 has wound up in circumstance where they have needed to speak in public. In any case, telling a story at a corporate gathering, presenting yourself in class or conveying a paper at a meeting does not really make you a public speaker’’ This means that public speaking is a process, action or art in making speeches in front of audiences.

Everyone needs the ability to speak in public, introducing yourself in public, giving a presentation is public and it does not have to be a public speaker. According to Dunar, H. (2015: 16) that public speaking is a person's ability to speak in public in the correct manner so that messages can be clearly conveyed and the purpose of speaking can be obtained.

The distinction among speaking and public speaking is that speaking implies just to talk. Morozova expressed ''Speaking is one of the most significant abilities to be created and improved as methods for viable correspondence. Talking is viewed as one of the four full scale aptitudes essential for successful correspondence in any language as per most exploration, especially when speakers are not utilizing their native language'' (http://translationjournal.net:2014).

The meaning of that statement is that speaking is one of the most significant abilities to create and improve as a methods for viable correspondence. Speaking is viewed as one of the four full scale abilities vital for viable correspondence in any language as indicated by most examinations, particularly when speakers do not communicate in their native language.
